Hey guys, it's Shadowhawk here and I have a new discussion-based blog for you! There has been a lot of talk about Battlefield Hardline recently, which is being released on March 17. One of the things that upsets me about the game right away is how Dice isn't even making it! Instead, they're being demoted to co-producer and Visceral Games, creators of Dead Space are the head developers this time around. We'll see how it goes, but I'm not too hopeful.
Another big change is that instead of being all-out war with the Russians invading the US or some similar repetitive crap, the franchise is moving to a cops-and-robbers theme, which I honestly think will be a breath of fresh air for the franchise and somewhat bring an end to the recycled battlefield atmosphere that has been used previously. However, a lot of players have been complaining that the game doesn't feel like a real battlefield because the theme has been shifted away from that, and instead of tanks and similar blow-uppy stuff you will be driving sports cars and police cars. Also, even with the new theme there is a real chance that the game will basically be the same as battlefield 4 with different vehicles and guns, which doesn't sound too exciting and new to me. Don't get me wrong, I love battlefield 4, but I just don't want to play the same game every single year (I'm looking at you, Call of Duty!). If you ask me, battlefield doesn't need to be a yearly franchise, because Cod already tried that and look where it got them with little to no innovation between games. Heck, every Call of Duty game that has been released since mw2 could be sold as a mw2 DLC instead and still seem non-innovative. Anyway, back to battlefield.
Speaking of which, the game does come with some new gamemodes which do revolve around the new theme such as Heist, which requires the robbers to steal valuable items and the cops to stop them. Don't worry though, they did include Conquest (if they didn't this wouldn't be a real battlefield game! ;) The beta does include the new modes, but I have yet to actually play it because EA's **** matchmaking system is totally screwing with me. Although I'll probably buy the game at some point in the future anyway, it would be nice to play at least one match to see what I think before I invest $60 in it.
So what do you guys think about Battlefield Hardline? And people who are able to participate in the beta, what's the game like? Does it live up to the Battlefield name?
And with that, I'll see you guys later!
